"Feeding your snake is fairly simple. What you want to do is go to your local pet store, and since snakes have become such a popular pet, that they have food readily available for them. Now, I feed my snakes mice and rats and the easiest way to get them is frozen just like this. I feed all of my snakes dead food simply for the fact that dead food cannot fight back. Live mice, live rats have sharp teeth. And, large rats and mice have been known to even kill snakes. So, you do not want to put your snake in that situation. Always feed him dead food. And, if it's a captive bred or captive raised snake, they will most likely readily accept it. If your snake does not grab the mouse right away, just leave it in there overnight, since Milk Snakes are mostly nocturnal, and hopefully the snake will find it and ingest it sometime during the night. As your snake gets larger, of course you are going to switch to larger prey items, here are some large mice. Don't feed your snake every single day, as I said before, snakes are cold blooded, they don't have a high metabolism, they don't burn up a lot of calories. Generally, I feed my snakes, my full grown Milk Snakes about once every two to three weeks and he'll eat about two of these mice. Some cases, in the wild, some snakes go without eating for half a year. I don't recommend doing that, you want to keep a nice healthy snake, feed him every two or three weeks. You don't want to over-feed your snake either; it will lead to an unhealthy snake."
