"Now milk snakes are commonly bred in the pet trade because they make excellent pets. Most pet stores will carry milk snakes. A lot of people breed milk snakes as well. The best way to find a reputable breeder now is to go online on the computer, type in milk snakes and the state where you live or the country you live in and find a reputable breeder. When you go to look at the milk snakes decide whether or not you want to get an adult or a baby. Babies are sometimes a little bit more wigglier and harder to work with but they also make a rewarding pet if you constantly handle them. Now in choosing your milk snake you want to make sure your snake is active, is alert, moving around. You do not want a lethargic snake. You want to look carefully over all there scales; make sure there is no discoloration or hardened scales. Some snakes will carry parasites if they're wild caught. That's why I recommend that if you're going to purchase a milk snake, make sure it's a captive-born milk snake. They make better pets. Wild caught snakes sometimes don't calm down, don't feed easily. These guys (captive breads) make the best pets."
