"My name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make the old English favorite Bangers and Mash. Alright, now it's onion chopping time. I'm just going to take this onion. You've got this end and this end. I'm going to cut this end off and I'm going to leave this end on. The reason why is the way I'm going to dice it, this end holds it all together. So, take the knife, right through there. Put the knife through the center just like that. I'm going to keep this side down just to minimize the amount of discomfort to myself as far as the fumes getting in my eyes goes. Another good tip is to use a refrigerated onion, they're not nearly as bad on the eyes. Hey, when peeling an onion don't feel bad if you have to go a layer or two deep. This one is really tough on the outside so I'm just going to go in a couple of layers to get to the good part of the onion. Alright, so what we're going to do is we're going to take and make a series of vertical cuts just like this to make a dice. I'm just going to do one there. And, so what I'm going to do is, on this, I'm not actually going to make a full dice. I'm just going to cut this nub off the end like that and then I'm going to give it one cut right down the middle here. This way we have some nice shape to our onion. You have almost like, almost, not quite slivers but pretty close. And you will see why in a moment. Do the other half the same way. There we go and since I don't want to waste this end I'm going to go ahead and cut of what I can of it and make that useful and not useless."
