Series Summary

An empanada is a stuffed pastry dish served in Latin America, Spain, Portugal, the Philippines and the Caribbean. Empanadas are generally made by folding circular-shaped dough over the stuffing, which can be savory, such as seasoned meats and vegetables, or sweet, such as fruit. Empanada styles vary from country to country, but they're great for appetizers, parties, and make a great portable lunch.

Expert Andrea Spano demonstrates how to make empanadas from scratch, including instructions on preparing a meat filling, rolling out and stuffing the dough, and frying empanadas. The recipe is simple and can be easily modified to any filling you want.
