While there is a dance form and musical genre labeled salsa it is usually referred to as a tomato based garnish. Usually spicy it is typically labeled as Mexican but Spain and Italy have their own style of salsa as well. Guacamole is another Mexican garnish made from avocados that is created as a dip for chips or to be put on other dishes like fajitas or tacos. There are many types of both these dips and although different cultures incorporate different ingredients they always have the same base, either tomato for salsa or avocado for guacamole.

We’re starting with the different ingredients that we’ll be using today and the different materials we’ll need to make the salsa happen. First off, and most importantly is to get the freshest possible ingredients. Today we’ll be using tomatoes, limes, onion, garlic, avocado, cilantro, green onion, and preferably fresh peppers. Spices we’ll be using will be salt, pepper, oregano, chili powder. We’ll also need some sort of blender, a large mixing bowl, a good sharp knife, and a mixing spoon."
