"MY name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today , I'm going to show you how to make turkey soup out of leftover turkey after the holidays are done. Now actually I neglected to realize there is one optional piece of equipment and that would be a peeler if you want to peel your carrot. I'm not going to bother because this is all perfectly edible. So lets take our knife and we're just going to hold our knife, thumb here on this side , fingers here on this side just like this, nice firm solid grip. Obviously we don't want the end of our carrot. That part is of no use to us. So that's going to be a nice little chess piece now or something. We're going to take our carrot and we are going to leave this in pretty good sizes to work with just to cut it down. So what I will do is I'm going to go with half moons for my shape of choice. And you'll notice that when you cut a carrot down the middle you obviously get two halves. Well what happens is if you lay them side by side like this you'll see they kind of go together like this. Pardon me. But if you flip one piece around, then it tends to act like the fact that one goes in and one goes out tends to make them fit together better and you get more of a rectangular shape out of it like that as opposed to like this. I'll give you more of a dramatic example with this tip piece. If you put them both side by side you get a piece that angles in. If you reverse one you'll have a quasi rectangular piece to cut. So I'll just take this, take our knife, holing it nicely and we're just going to go with about a quarter inch chop. If you go too small on this you're going to end up with mushy carrots and no one likes mushy carrots. Alright. So there is our carrots and now on to the celery."
