Series Summary

You’re throwing the ultimate Sunday afternoon football shindig and all the preparations are in place: cold beer in the fridge, vegetable tray for the health conscious, cookies for the laissez faire, about 14 bags of chips, a few extra chairs, the pizza delivery phone number, 3 or 4 cases of soda…and everything seems ready to go. Your guests arrive, eager to receive your hospitality. They chow down happily on cookies and chug beers with enthusiasm. Their need for sweets satiated and their thirst slaked, they go to reach for the chips. Someone grabs a handful of corn chips…and then looks around in confusion. After a few seconds, he calls over to you from the couch and says, “Hey man, where’s the dip?”

In this series on snack foods, learn how to avoid just such a situation. Expert Amy Staggs will show you how to make her patented bean dip recipe, just right for such an occasion. In a few short clips, learn what ingredients you need, how to prepare the beans, how to chop garlic, parsley and cilantro, how much hot sauce and lime juice to add, and how to mix it all together into the ultimate party dip. Enjoy!

"Hello, my name is Amy Staggs and on behalf of Expert Village here is my recipe for Amy’s Easy Bean Dip. So Amy’s Easy Bean Dip, it came about when I came home after a trip and my husband had eaten us kind of out of house and home and there were only a few staple ingredients left in the cupboard and fridge including nachos. So I took four or five main staple ingredients, combined them in a food processor and I had a really, really tasty bean dip and the cool thing about this bean dip is that it’s very, very base, so you can add hot sauce, you can add cheese, you can add salsa, you can dress it up really easily. But by itself, it spreads easily on crackers, my husband even eats it with a spoon, so it’s perfect just by itself, and again, it’s very easy to dress up if you want too, and super, super easy, most people have these ingredients in their cupboards already. So all right, let’s get started making the bean dip. Now I have here before me an array of different ways you can dress up the bean dip. So this is everything that I have used to put in the, the original bean dip. Um, I have cheese, I have parsley, you can also do cilantro, garlic, hot sauce, and flax seed even, but let’s take away all those complicated extra items, and just start with the staples. What you will need to make this bean dip, you’re going to need canned pinto beans, you’re going to need garlic, you’re going to need parsley, either fresh or dried, salt and pepper, olive oil, and vinegar and either a blender or a food processor to blend it all together, I’m going to use a food processor today. So there we go, there are our base ingredients for Amy’s Easy Bean Dip."
