"Hi, I'm Amanda with Expert Village. In this clip we will slice the leaks. So first you want to cut just the very end of the root off of the bulb. From there, cutting about 3" off of the leaves so they still have just the small part of the leave left on the top. Then peeling the outer layer of the leaf off as you're getting into the inner part of the leak. Now we'll slice it in half, just right down the middle. Then from here slicing in half so we can wash on the inside. Cause usually there tends to be dirt build up right on the inside of the leafs. Now I'll rinse the leeks. So just making sure that the outer most parts of the leek don't have any dirt left in them, rinsing them well. I'll thinly slice the leeks. Now the leek is really in the same family as the onions and the garlic. So I cut about 2 quarts of leeks that comes to 8 cups or so."
