"Hi! I'm Amanda with Expert Village. In this clip, I'm going to peel the almonds. Almonds are a really good nut for fall and winter. It's best to eat the nut without the skin. That enhances the digest ability of the nut. They're high in protein and they're great for the nervous system and the reproductive systems of the body. The best way to peel an almond is either to let it soak over night in just a little bit of water, just enough to cover the almonds. If you forgot to soak them, then you can just blanch them with hot water. I've got some hot water here on the stove. Pouring enough water over the almonds to cover them. The almonds have soaked for a couple of minutes, so I'm just going to go ahead and rinse them here with cold water. Almonds are ready to peel. You can see here that the skin's pretty loose on the almonds. You've got those guys just popping right out of the skin. There's the skin and there's the almonds, so fairly easy to peel. The longer you soak them, they'll easier they'll be to take the skins off. We'll be using about 10 almonds."
