"Hi! I'm Amanda with Expert Village. In this clip, we'll mix together the syrups and the spices. I'm going to mix 2 tablespoons of maple syrup here in the bowl. Maple syrup is a wonderful source of magnesium zinc and it helps to keep the immune system healthy as well. During this cold time of the year, winter and fall, this is a good thing to have in your diet. I've got 2 tablespoons of the syrup, and then we'll take 2 tablespoons of the brown rice syrup as well. This is a great sweetener. It's a good alternative sweetener to save sugar or corn syrup. We'll take 2 tablespoons of that out. I've got 1 and 2. Then we have our rum as well. We'll take 1 tablespoon of the rum and add it. The alcohol in the rum will bake out, but the flavor will still remain, so it'll give it a nice warm flavor to the apples. We'll move to the spices. We've got cinnamon here. I'm adding a half of a teaspoon of that. Cinnamon is a really warming spice. It's delicious in foods, baked goods, and it's also a wonderful spice to use in teas. Then we have our mace, which is from the same fruit as the nutmeg. We'll just add a 1/4 of a teaspoon of the mace. Just mix them together. It's got a really nice and sweet smell. It'll be good for the apples."
