How to Rate (give stars) an eHow Article

Introduction

Rating articles is an important part of eHow. It lets readers and eHow staff know that you've written an article that is of quality and desirability (or not!). Many readers are confused as to how to properly leave ratings with the stars on each article page or they even accidentally under rate them. I've written this guide to help those people rate articles easily and properly.

Step1

Read an article.

Step2

Locate the stars to rate with.

Step3

Decide what you feel the quality of that article and it's information was.

The stars represent levels of quality. From left to right... 1 star is the worst possible rating all the way up to the 5th star over which represents a full 5 star rating. This is the coveted thank you all readers want their readers to bestow them with for their efforts. If they deserve it, make sure you give it to them.

Step4

Move your mouse over the stars.

Step5

Choose ONE star to click on.

Think of them like this:

* * * * *
horrid bad fine better BEST

Step6

You won't see the number update but you will see the blue averages change, if your rating is different than some of the others.

Step7

Leave a comment. If you gave them a 5 star rating, simply state "5 stars!" as a closing remark in your statement. This may even encourage the writer to return the favor of rating some of your articles. :)

If you go back up to the top after commenting, you will see that the numbers have changed to reflect your rating.

Step8

Even if your too busy to leave a comment, do remember to always rate an article! It's very important to the writers who took the time to offer you the information your reading.

on 7/28/2008 Great article on using the Ratings system, but I don't think it should be the responsibility of the writers to do these "how-to get around on e-How" articles, it should be within the e-How instructions to newbies instead! 5 stars!
