You really can't compare Chardonnay to a Merlot, they are, it's like comparing apples to oranges. Chardonnay is a white, chardonnay's come in many different ways, they are buttery or they are pristine, oakey, or fruity or they come in several different ways. Merlots, a red wine, can be spicy, can be oakey, as Tish was saying,you really can't compare the two because they are completely different wines. Completely different grapes."
