Series Summary

Modern American football began in 1874 and has since been a popular sport for competitive teams of all ages. The excitement of a Monday night gridiron game works down from the bright lights, over a roaring crowd, and through the voices of top sports announcers like the late Howard Cosell or John Madden. In fact, football is now the most-watched sport in America, easily beating out America’s national pastime, baseball.

In this instructional video series, our expert will show you how to defend the pass with a Dime football defense. The Dime formation is used when the coach is certain that the offense is going to throw the football, and so he arranges the secondary and defensive backs to react accordingly. From positioning the linemen and linebackers to rushing the quarterback, our expert will show you everything you need to know about the Dime defense. Several defensive back formations will be covered as well, such as the cover one and cover two, and the benefits of a zone defense versus a man-to-man defense will be discussed. Defense wins championships, so figure out how to run your football team's defense today!

"Hi, I'm Billy Kidd, here with Expert Village and we are going talk about the dime defense. We are going to talk about the dime defense. The dime defense is a term associated with the defense of secondary. The dime defense is a defense you're gonna play because you are sure the offense is going to throw the football. The offense, one first indication might be that they only have the five offensive linemen. And then their gonna have their four wide receivers. Now these four wide receivers can be in any combination. Got your quarterback, and you also got your running back. Now that running back may end being a fifth wide receiver. They take running back out of the game, then they add another wide receiver. So what you have is any empty back field. Which means there is no threat to run the football, unless the quarter back is going to run it, you don't have a back back here. But you do have five receivers which is the biggest threat the offense is going to have. And you have to defend those guys."
