"There are six basic approaches to the step. As I'm facing the front of my bench, that's called a front approach. My body is square on to the front side of the bench. I am in a mirror image position to you which means I am moving on my left foot which means your right. In a basic step class, the instructor would face this way which is again the front approach to the step. We would be stepping up and down on the bench making sure that we are facing the bench in the center all the time. There are various steps that come from a front approach. One of them being a basic step, or perhaps a lift step. Lift step meaning the leg lifts. Step and lift the leg up off the bench. Perhaps some steps where we're stepping up and over the bench. So from the front approach so you can see stepping up and down so my shoulders stay square to the bench."
