The action given 2mins 35 into this lesson is absolutly terrible. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS!!! This advise is not explained very well at all. What you are seeing in this video is the action of CASTING. Casting will cause a loss of power, a very poor strike (fat or thin) also, if you do manage to strike the ball, the accuracy of the shot will be poor. What you need to do to get a proper release is to hold the L shaped angle (which runs through your left arm and into the shaft) from the top of your swing, hold this angle until your hands reach your right hip on the downswing. Then if a correct hip turn through impact is created by bumping your left hip slightly forward to begin the downswing, then turning the hip to the left (tiger is a great example) you then, 'snap' your right hand over trap the ball and hit through the shot. This creates a nice lag in the swing (L angle) and a powerful release ('snapping the right hand) but be warned... YOU MUST PRACTICE before playing. I would suggest hitting balls with a 7 iron at 60-70% power. Groove it into your swing gentley to avoid any fault creeping into your swing. It does take time but it will be worth it.
