Flexibility is an important aspect to participating in any sport and especially in gymnastics, martial arts, and dancing. There are many stretching exercises that are useful in increasing flexibility; decreasing muscle soreness and cramping; reducing the risk of muscle, tendon, and ligament injury; and alleviating muscle tension and pain.

This is very important that you do these exercises especially if you are a gymnast. What you want to do is just lift them up and then basically reach for the sky. Breathe in and out and then release. Another way of stretching your arms in this area would be to pull back and then look up; breathing in and out. This elongates the muscle and makes it more effective. If you use this muscle without stretching and increasing its flexibility, you run a strong, strong risk of injuring it. You just want to release, rotates some of the joints."
