Series Summary

If you own a sailboat, you’ve probably already figured out that the easiest way to clean it is to hire someone else to clean for you. But for you hands-on boat owners--and especially for you enterprising young travelers looking for ways to fund your world tour--Expert Village now demonstrates the fine art of cleaning a yacht from topside to hull and all of the tricky spots in between.

Ches Rainier has sailed around the world and cleaned many boats in many harbors. Follow along in this series of free instructional videos as he shows you how to clean everything from the polished steel accessories and engine to the windows and floor. He even tells you how to clean the galley and the head (kitchen and bathroom to you land lubbers who might just be watching this series for who-knows-what reason, perhaps to create a setting or a scene for your new adventure novel without ever leaving the comfort of your own home). And to make sure your clean sailboat stays that way as long as possible, he also shows you how to wax it.

Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Ches Rainer welcome to Expert Village. Today we are going to be talking about some techniques used to clean a fiberglass boat. In this clip we are going to talk about getting all your supplies ready to clean the boat. Before you start cleaning you want to make sure that you got your hoses out on the dock and all your cleaning supplies ready that you are going to need. That way you don't need to be running back and forth on the boat because it is just going to get the boat dirty coming back and forth off the dock. If you don't keep your boat at a slip you're going to need to bring it from your mooring ball or your anchorage, where ever you're holding it to the dock that way you have a nice fresh water supply to wash down the boat, we took this one here earlier."
