"Hi! My name is Dan and I am here with Expert Village today to talk about socks and sock liners. Sock liner goes on underneath your sock, against your skin. It is typically made out of the same material as long under wear with no cotton in it. It is designed to minimize friction between your sock and your skin which helps to reduce blisters and hot spots. It also acts as a good wicking layer to take sweat away from your foot and transfer it to your sock. Picking the right sock is important; they typically come in sizes and different socks have different kinds of padding in them. Some will have stretchy areas and more padding in the heel or balls of your foot. Sometimes they will have synthetic or spandex material at the top to keep them from bunching in your shoe. Again as with anything, it is important to try out your socks before taking them on an expedition."
