" Hi! My name is Dan and I’m here with Expert Village. Right now, we’re going to see how to start a basic campfire. It’s good to get a piece of material that you can leave in the fire, but also one that’s long enough so that you don’t have to stick your finger directly into the flame. I’ve already constructed a small tee-pee fire, and now we’re going to light it. You want to pay attention to wind direction, to make sure that you’re not lighting the fire and getting smoke in your eyes. Sometimes this is hard to do, as the wind will clock around. Once you get a small flame going, you can blow gently on the fire to spread the embers into the center. You want to be careful not to blow too hard, as you may extinguish the fire, in which case you may need to relight. It’s also good to have a little bit more kindling laying around in case you need to add fuel to strategic places on the flame. Another nice thing to have around is a leather glove, which can help you move pieces of wood in the fire without getting burned. So, those are a few of the basics of starting a campfire. "
