" Hi! My name is Dan and I’m here for Expert Village. Today we’re going to talk about sizing your firewood. As with most things, you want to start out small and go bigger. You’re going to start with your kindling. Gradually moving up to small sticks, sticks are twigs. Again, eventually becoming larger. Getting bigger, even bigger. Eventually what you’re probably going to be cooking off of is what’s going to be throwing the most warmth; these are going to be the larger logs. From my personal experience, I find it’s helpful to set out all your wood ahead of time so you know just how much you have and just how much you’re anticipating using. Also, it allows for easy access if you need more kindling or you need to get a certain spot from the fire hotter, you can put on some of the smaller twigs or branches. Having your smaller twigs and branches laid out like this will allow you to quickly and easily select pieces of wood that you can place in the fire where you need them. "
