"Hi! My name is Dan and I am here with Expert Village. Today we are going to talk about some items you might want to bring while camping in your first aid kit. First of all the kit itself is important. You want to have a good water proof kit, solid, easy to close and can be nice and compact. Some of the things you might want to bring in it number 1 would be a travel medicine book. This is a good quick reference guide in case of emergency. Also, you might be able to gleem some good information while sitting around the campsite fire in case of emergency. You want to bring mole skin just for blisters. Mole skin is good for patching over blisters and helping to prevent them. Sterile gloves are very important for body substance isolation, fluids like blood and vomit which can carry pathogens. If there is ever any question about who you might be working on, you always want to put on gloves. Several different kinds of pills are: Tylenol, Aspirin, and Acetaminophen. Triple antibiotic ointment is a good general purpose first aid item to have. It is good for burns, cuts and scrapes and helps to fight off infection. A small irrigator in case of puncture wound you can use to squirt water or sterile solution into a wound. You can also use it in case you had your wisdom teeth out recently. Safety pins for clipping gauze and bandages on in case of large trauma. A variety sizes of Band-Aids and other gauze pads to help stop bleeding. Q-tips for a variety of things; could be to put ointment onto a sensitive area, to clean out puncture wounds. Also have a few smelling salts in case someone is unconscious and crack that open and help wake them up. Larger dressings in case of massive trauma; hopefully you will never have to use these. Tape and a variety of different sized bandages. Again, when they are sealed, they are going to remain sterile so it is important to check and make sure that the package is intact. Also disposable thermometers; these are good in case of the possibility of fever. It’s good to be able to check on a patient periodically. Another very important thing with the pills is to make sure to check the expiration date and immediately destroy the pills if they are expired. These are a few of the basic items you will want in your first aid kit."
