"Another very effective leg exercise done with tubing is what we call skiing or abduction with a hip extension. So step on the tube, again towards the center of the tube, feet about hip distance apart, hold the handles either down at your side, on your waist or up on your shoulders. When we do abduction, is moving the leg out to the side. A ski movement or hip extension is moving it to the back, so you're angling to the back and activating the gluteus maximas on hip extension and the gluteus medius on the abduction. So from the side view, out to the side and hip extension, move slightly back. It's important to keep your feet in that flexed position, because you don't' want the tubing rolling off the bottom of your foot. So make sure it's securely under your foot. Add intensity, I like to do a little combination of maybe eight abductions, when that muscle group is screaming at you, then move it to hip extension. So I kind of call this a skate and ski motion and you'll really feel those muscles of the glutes all around fire up."
