Step1
God will Draw the Person to Himself. I would like to begin by first stating that we can not make anyone do anything. It is the Spirit of God who convicts the heart of men and makes them aware that they need God. That takes the pressure off of sharing the gospel or praying with someone to receive the Lord.
Step2
God has made you His Ambassador of Jesus Christ. The blessing of sharing the gospel with others is not assigned merely to the Pastor or the minister; but to every member of the body of Christ. 2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To reconcile means to bring back that which was lost! Know that you are an ambassador of Christ. You are God's mouth and hands and feet in the earth and He wants to use You!
Step3
Be a Prayerful Person. Prayer is connecting to God; you speaking to Him and Him responding. Prayer helps us to become sensitive to hearing his voice. Being sensitive to God's voice will help you to see the opportunities He is putting before you too share the Gospel.
Step4
Look for Opportunities. Christians tend to turn off after they leave church, but being a Christian is a 24/7 relationship with the Father. He will send you opportunities while you are standing in line at the supermarket, or on your job or neighborhood. When you are speaking with some, be sensitive to the voice of God. Sometimes you might sense that you should begin to share about Christ. Sometimes a person will begin to pour their whole life out to you. Knock, Knock, this is an opportunity to share the gospel with them. When I first began to witness I always used a gospel tract. While this is not necessary, I like to leave a track, because it gives the person something to read in he privacy of their own home. Especially if you did not get a chance to give them the complete gospel.
Step5
Be an example. On your job you will have many opportunities to minister to your co-workers. I call this relationship evangelism because you have more time to really get to know people, go out to lunch, talk about their family, etc. Being an example means not leaving work early, not being a part of office gossip not taking home office supplies, etc. People are watching you and if your life does not exemplify Christ, you will not be a good witness.
Step6
Opportunities on your Job. I had a boss on my job who treated me very poorly. There were times she said things to me in public which made me cry. I really disliked her; but the Lord told me to pray for her in my private prayers. I obeyed and prayed that the Lord would bless her, give her peace and to save her. There came a time months later when she was in her office crying. I asked her could I pray for her, she agreed. Because I was willing to pray for this mean boss, it kept my heart sensitive to God's voice when it was time to move I was able to act. That prayer was a seed of God's love planted in her life.
Step7
On the Front Lines. When God has given you an opportunity to share the gospel with someone:
1)Let them know that God loves them. John 3:16 Preaching hell and brimstone will not make anyone want God. Be natural and use your own words.
2)Let them know that we all have sinned and that you too were a sinner and that our separates us from God. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
3) Tell the person that Salvation is through Jesus Christ. Act 4:12 And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.
Step8
4) The person has to want to change their life (repentance) and receive the Lord. Romans 10:9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
5) Ask the person if they want to receive the Lord. By now the Holy Spirit has touched them with your words and the scriptures you have shared. When they say yes, Pray and lead them in the prayer of Salvation. If they are no ready to receive the Lord. Let them know that's alright and pray that God will bless them and continue to work in theirs lives. Never let a person walk away without praying for them.
Step9
If the person is ready to receive the Lord you will sense it. You will see a change in their expression, you may see tears in their eyes, I have had people ask me right out, "How do I receive the Lord." First pray for the person for God to make Himself real to them, etc. You pray as the HS is leading you. Then lead them in a prayer of Salvation. Although there is no set prayer to receive the Lord in order to cover all the bases many use the sinner's prayer or prayer of Salvation, to prayer with someone to receive the Lord.
Step10
The Sinner's Prayer: Father forgive me for all my sins, come into my life and wash me with your blood, I ask you to be my Lord and Saviour. That is it. There are variations of the prayer. Don't be long and drawn out. Be free to pray what the Lord is giving you. If the person is suffering from some bondage or addiction, you may have them pray asking God to set them free from addiction, etc. or to heal them. Always be lead of the Holy Spirit.
Step11
Rejoice! You have done one of the most important things you will do for the Lord! Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.
