"GRAYDON BLAIR: My name is Graydon Blair from Utah Biodiesel Supply and on behalf of Expert Village, it's time to talk about taxes and regulations with using biodiesel. As you know, any time you put fuel in your vehicle and you drive it on a public road, you got to pay taxes to use that road. And unfortunately, it applies to all fuels. The general premise is that if you use biodiesel in your vehicle, it's a good idea to check with your local state and/or federal agency to see what the excise taxes will cost. For example, in Utah, it runs about 22 cents a gallon for state excise tax and about 22.3 it's--those are approximations. So, there's roughly about 48-49 cents of taxes that if I use this fuel in my diesel vehicle, I owe the federal government for driving on a public road. There are several different things out there that you want to look at. I would advise you to talk to your tax professional to see what it would run. And after you found that out, then you can check to see what would cost to run biodiesel. While the cost of biodiesel is inexpensive to make, we still have to obey the laws as best as we can."
