"GRAYDON BLAIR: My name is Graydon Blair from Utah Biodiesel Supply, and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm now going to teach you how to make a large batch of biodiesel, started with a small batch earlier. First of all, the formula goes like this. We know that we're going to need 1000--1060 grams of lye. We have 100 liters of oil, and our methanol is just 20%, so 100 x 0.20 is 20 liters of methanol. So 100 oil + 20 methanol + 1060 grams of lye in a container that we heat up-note we've heated up this oil in a container to 130 degrees Fahrenheit, and then we mix in our lye and our methanol together, and we let it stir for about 2 hours. Then we let it settle like we did with our mini batch here, and then when we come back, we'll have finished biodiesel. And that's how to make a big batch."
