"GRAYDON BLAIR: My name is Graydon Blair from Utah Biodiesel Supply and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to calculate your titration after you've done the titration amount. First thing we want to do is take our goggles off, we're done with that. So, now, it's time to take the amounts that we got and figure out how much lye we're going to use when we make our biodiesel. If you remember, we used 3 milliliters of our titration solution to get our solution to turn pink, okay? That's the thing we need. To calculate your solution or your titration, you're going to need to know the purity of your catalyst. I know mine is 92% pure so my potassium hydroxide is 92% pure catalyst. I also know that I've used potassium hydroxide to do this with and that's important. For potassium hydroxide, its chemical symbol is KOH, I'm going to use something called the base of 7, okay? I need to account for my purity before I do this so I'm going to take 7 and I'm going to divide it by 0.92. I'm going to take a calculator out and 7 divide by 0.92 is equal to roughly 7.6, okay, and that's going to be important. So, to figure out how much lye I'm going to use, we'll show you that on the next wrap."
