"Hi, my name is Albert Hedgepeth here for Expert Village and today we're going to talk about understanding the wildlife in the areas where you're camping. Understanding what's living around you is important not only for your safety, but for the environment itself. Understanding if bears are in the area, if bobcats are in the area can really provide you with a little bit of strength while you're out camping. In a lot of places, you're going to have to hang bear bags in the woods so bears don't get into your food at night or there are a lot of times they have bear boxes that are on the side of camping sites that are available to you for free just to protect your food and the resources that you have while you?re out there. If you like nature watching, you might want to go and grab some guidebooks that talk about the different types of wildlife that are in the area. Ranger stations are a major resource for stuff like that. The internet is also a great resource, it usually breaks it down by region and by what types of wildlife are actually living in the area. Going into the woods with knowledge allows you to be safe and as long as you're safe, you're going to have a good time. So, it is really important that you go into the woods understanding what wildlife is around you, what their habits are, and how to protect yourself from any dangers that might arise."
