Series Summary

Ice skating is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Feeling the wind in your hair and the skates beneath your feet can sometimes feel like flying. However, if you've never skated before, ice skating can seem a little nerve wracking. As beginners we usually cling to the boards and never let go as though our lives depend on it.

In this free video clip series Akos Kertesz walks you through some beginning exercises for first time ice skaters. He'll show you some first time stretches followed up with some easy exercises you can practice on your own. From there he'll show you the correct posture and foot movement you'll need in order to begin skating. He'll also break down the mechanics of pushing off and balancing, which will lead you towards skating forwards and backwards. With just a few easy lessons Akos will take away from the ledge of despair and out into the open ice like you've always dreamed of.
