"Hello! My name is Adrian Arceo and I'm here with expertvillage.com. Now we are going to get into fly balls. Now catching a fly ball is fairly simple, so long as you remember to set yourself up under the ball. If you have to run towards it or if you have to catch it on the run, that makes the catch a whole lot more difficult. Now as the ball gets hit, you kind of have to calculate where it is going to land so you can set yourself up under the ball. Preferably you want to have your left foot forward and your right leg back, if you are catching with the right handed glove. So when the ball is coming up towards you, just set yourself up under it and bring your glove it. Just like when you are catching a ground ball, you want to have your throwing hand close to the glove. So as the ball comes, make the catch and you use your throwing hand to kind of clamp down on your glove. That way you make sure it doesn't pop out. Also if it kind of hits off the end of your glove, you are able to just kind of grab it with your bare hand—that way you hold it in there. Also like a ground ball, you want to kind of bring it in your body. Okay so going over again, you set your feet, you throw your glove up there, keep your throwing hand close to it and as it comes down, just clamp down with it and bring the ball towards your body. That's how you catch a fly ball."
