Series Summary

The paintball gun was first invented in the 1950's by the Nelson Paint Company as a way for forestry services to mark trees from a distance. It wasn't until June 27, 1981, that the first official paintball tournament was organized by a few friends after hunting in Africa and reading the book "The Most Dangerous Game." A game developed around the game Capture the Flag and originally called Survivor, paintball was a safe way for people to hunt the most dangerous game, each other. Since its inception, the sport of paintball has grown exponentially and is now a competitive sport at the X games. If you play, knowing how to work and clean your paintball gun is essential to your success.

"Hey! I'm Adam Nelson and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be talking about the main parts of the paintball gun. What I have here with me today are 2 different company makers basic mid-level entry paintball guns. The piranha and the spyder. As you can see, both of them look pretty similar. The first thing I'm going to show you is the caulking ram. What you need to do with this is just pull it back until you here it snap. Like so. The main reason for this is to make the gun be ready to fire. Now, underneath the caulking ram you have the velocity adjuster. Depending on where you put this it's going to determine the speed and velocity of your paintball shots when you shoot. The next thing we're going to show you is the gas through fore grip. The main thing for this is just to make it have a handle. Now up here we have the basic air chambers. It also adds so the air through the tank goes smoothly through with your shots. The next thing is the vertical feed. This makes it so when you have your hopper on the paintball goes through easier into the gun. The main differences between these two guns is the spyder extra doesn't have a sight rail and the piranha does, but this is an older model and sight rails are pretty much pointless. These are where your tank will screw in or the remote coil, depending on what you want to use. These are the basic parts of the outside of the gun."
