"Hi, this is Aaron Phillips for Expert Village with another segment on mountain biking for beginners. Now, when you are going down a hill and you are making turns; anytime you are making a turn for that matter, if you are making a turn at high velocity, there is a lot of new ons to leaning into it and things like that. Mostly you just want to follow your line of sight, go where your eyes are taking you, especially if they are taking you to a good place, to your happy place. Keep your eyes where you want to go, you are going to end up going there. One other thing in terms of just the physics of keeping the tires on the ground and rooted firmly to the ground, is keeping the outside pedal on a turn down. That way if I am turning left, my right foot is down. If I am turning right, my left foot is down, so it is kind of just a way, if I am turning this way and I am leaning like this you've got to think if this foot is not down these tires are going to start slide out. If I have all my weight on that foot, I am rooting those tires to the ground actively. I am going to show you what that is all about on this turn up here. Ideally this would be a slightly sharper turn and I will show you exactly what I mean about keeping the outside foot down. That is the kind of thing you want to do on some switch backs if you have got speed. Here I will just demonstrate with a downhill right hand turn, why you want to keep that left pedal down."
