"Hi. I'm Albert Hedgepeth with Expert Village. Today we are going to talk a little bit about boat maintenance. One of the first things you are going to want to do before you crank up your boat, especially if it's coming out of winterization for the winter, is you are going to want to go ahead and check the oil. You are going to want to make sure that all the fluids that the boat needs to operate are three, topped off and if you need to go ahead and change the fluids. You should probably go ahead and do that before you crank it up for the first time for the season. To check the oil, specifically, the easiest way to do it is go ahead and pull out the dipstick. Kind of pull it out and keep it level. You want to double-check the dipstick to see that it's full. As you can see, this is full. The other thing you might want to do is to check the color of the oil. You can wipe it on a rag. As you can see, that oil is pretty dark meaning that this boat needs an oil change. It's about time to get that done. Once you've checked the oil you go ahead and reinsert the dipstick back into the engine. Go ahead and feed it all the way down and make sure that the cap securely fastens around the lip. At that point you are ready to go. As long as you've got oil most rides turn out pretty good."
