"Hi. I'm Albert Hedgepeth with Expert Village. Today we are going to talk a little bit about boat maintenance. Moisture on the interior of your boat's cabin is not a good thing. There are a couple of things you can do to make sure that everything in the cabin stays dry, electronic materials stay uncorroded, and that everything stays operational and doesn't end up rotting. One of the easiest ways to do that is to get one of these dry air systems. There are a couple of different varieties, some come in hanger bags that you can hang in your luggage container others come in little compartments like this with catch trays. The purpose of these things is to remove the moisture from the air and to remove it from the cloth materials and padding that is on the inside of the boat, including the carpet. The way that you fill one of these things is you pretty much just put the catch tray on the top and you take some of these calcium chloride pellets and you sprinkle them around on the outside of the bin. Then you go ahead and place the grill catch on top so that you don't spill it all over the boat. You replace the clip. Then place this in a location where moisture is actually entering the vessel. It's good to put them near windows, it's good to put them near doors, or near any other vent or open area that is open to the outside environment. Again keeping a boat dry makes the materials that are on the inside of it last longer and will give the boat a much higher resale value and keep it from smelling bad."
