"Hi, I'm Albert Hedgepeth with Expert Village, and we're going to talk a little bit about safety and boating etiquette, and why it's really good information to have if you're out on the water. One of the first things you're going to want to make sure you've got are sufficient life jackets. If the Coast Guard or the Wildlife Service boards your vessel, and your life jackets are tattered, you don't have enough for everyone on the boat, or they're outdated and starting to dry rot, you're going to get a fine. Another thing you really want to make sure you have is a fire extinguisher. If a fire breaks out on a boat, boats tend to burn up really quickly. In no wake zones, it's really important that you slow down, especially with boats of any size. Whenever you get into bigger boats, you're kicking up a bigger wake in general, and it's just polite to go ahead and slow down while you're passing smaller vessels, and to just back off the throttle just a little bit so you aren't kicking up a big wave and swamping smaller boats. If there are no wake signs posted, you should definitely slow down. And you will get a ticket for speeding through those areas. Whether this is your first boat, or whether you're upgrading to a larger vessel, hopefully these videos will help you have more fun and be safer while you're out on the water."
