"This is a pivot, which is a variation of a Mambo step. We did the Mambo before. We rocked forward and back. The Mambo keeps us in the same direction. A pivot is going to take us and turn us around. You step and turn using the same foot coming forward. Step and turn. You need to get up on the ball of your foot. On the bench. It's easy on the floor. A lot of times we will use the pivot on the floor, but this is going to be on the bench. I'd start with a Mambo first and then a variation would be allowing somebody to pivot and come all the way around. This is a half pivot. From the Mambo, pivot, pivot, stop. Maybe rock or pivot. We also use it on a Mambo Cha cha. Mambo Cha cha you can do pivot cha cha, pivot. Again, if you get mixed up because you're facing different directions, it's just easier to do the Mambo. Whenever you hear pivot in class, always know that you can do the Mambo and you'll be right where you need to be."
