Chapter 2-The Types of Universal Remote Controls: Universal remotes come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and a variety of functions. A basic universal remote can control your television, VCR, DVD player, or even stereo. More advanced universal remotes, such as the one here, can be used to control your cable or satellite set top box or even DVR. State of the art remote controls, usually controlled by your computer originally, such as this one, can control additional electronic components all together or a variety of other functions. For instance, you can turn your stereo, TV, and DVD player all with one click of a button."
