Canon XH A1 Audio Recording Modes

"When using the on-board microphone on your XH A1, there are three different audio recording modes you can choose from. Those are normal, voice, and then a windscreen mode. Let me show you how to set those up first off. What we want to do is, first off, hit our menu button. And, again, we're just going to go into the audio set-up. You see, mic mode is right here and that's what we're talking about. If we go into mic mode, first we're on normal. This basically means, this is like your default setting, and your just recording audio under typical conditions. This is if you want background noise and voices and pretty much everything. Or, if you don't know exactly what's going to happen, you might want to leave it on this very typical, default recording. The next option is voice, and this is just as the name implies, this is used to mainly pick up people's voices. If you're in a place where there's a lot of background noise but you're just recording people talking, you probably want to turn on this option so your microphone is going to concentrate on those voices and try to get rid of a little bit of that background noise. The next option is WS, and I'm assuming that stands for windscreen, because what this option does is reduces the background noise and the sound of wind when your recording outdoors in windy conditions. If you go outside on a windy day with your microphone, you'll hear what wind noise sounds like. It's kind of hard to describe, but definitely turn that on and try to get rid of some of that background noise. On an external microphone you'd be using a wind screen, but since this is just our on-board microphone, we have this audio recording mode to turn on.
