"Before we get started talking about everything you can do, audio-wise, on your XH A1. One thing I want to mention, real fast, it's very important to get a decent set of headphones. This is almost, like, the first thing you do. There's no reason you should be buying the expensive external microphone if you don't already have a good set of headphones. Definitely buy these first. These are for monitoring your levels when you're recording. Because you want to be listening to what your microphone's hearing, not just listening with your ears because, then, you don't know if there's some kind of problem with the mic, if your picking up wind noise, or anything like that. Talking about headphones, it's very important to get over the ear headphones because you can't just use ear-buds, you're getting a lot of external noise coming in like that. You definitely want to use over the ear headphones and buy a good quality set because headphones are really important to audio recording. Where do you connect your headphones to the XH A1? If you don't already know, you just open up this little panel right next to your battery case and the headphones go in right here. Now I'm getting audio. To set headphone volume, if you open up your LCD screen, you little scroll wheel down here actually acts as headphone volume when you're recording. You see, if I start messing with it, I get my volume. It's pretty important to have your volume pretty high because you want to be able to monitor everything as well as you can without the actual sound, not the sound that's coming in through your mic, interfering with what your hear. So, if your headphone levels are too low, you might be hearing what's on the outside, not what's in your mic. It's important to have those as loud as you can stand. That's the importance of headphones. Definitely get a good pair of over the ear headphones so you can monitor your audio."
