" Hello! I’m Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Let’s talk about consumer camcorders. In-camera editing what is it? It’s the way I like to shoot. If I’m shooting home movies I’d like to create a master tape by the time I’m done. Now you could take it and put into the computer and edit it that’s great but you can also do some editing right in the camera itself for instance instead of shooting for 1,2, 3 minutes the same scene I’ll shoot for 5, 10, 15 seconds may be, stop the camera move to a new position and take some more footage. Also I’ll use this camera has an edit search button forward and back it’s like a jog dial so in camera mode if I hit pause I can go ahead and start pushing these buttons here and I can look through the view finder and place the tape where I want it, so if I’m doing something interesting like someone swinging the bat to hit a ball I can queue it up right after they swing, get it set and then take an another shot of someone catching the ball. It wouldn’t have to be at the same time but it would but it would give the sense of this motion and this fluidity so that’s what you can do with in-camera editing."
