" Hello! I’m Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Let’s talk about consumer camcorders. Back light compensation, how do you use it? That’s pretty simple actually if you ever go to take a picture of the subject and the background is brighter for instance such as if they are standing in front of the window. They’re dark because the camera is setting its exposure to what the light level is. So there’s a couple of ways you can overcome that, one is to set a manual exposure zooming close or move in closer so that you’re not picking up the light around the person as much. So the exposure would be set again to the light that it’s detecting or if you want the full frame like a light shot with the window and everything in it you could press the back light feature and that will brighten up the whole picture.
