"Hello! I’m Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Let’s talk about consumer camcorders. How do you connect your camcorder to your computer. If you have a more modern camcorder you will have a fire wire port on it and that is ideal for connecting to your computer. If you have a notebook computer with fire wire built in it’s probably the small connecter like this. It is actually the same type that will plug in to the camera. The camera has one here, just plug it in then the other end will plug into your note book laptop computer. If you have a desktop with built in fire wire or a card that you purchase to put in to an empty slot. The connecter is probably the bigger type like this. So there’s still this end that goes into the camera and this end goes into the computer. So a thing that you really have to pay attention to are the connection ends and if it’s the right size or not. Once you get the hooked up to your computer then you will need the piece of software that will communicate with the camera and the transfer and add your clips to where you like."
