"Hello! I’m Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Let’s talk about consumer camcorders. One of the first things you should do with your camcorder is to protect the lens and on consumer camcorders the lenses are not replaceable. So if the glass gets scratched on the lens then you have a problem. You’ll need to a get it repaired. Typically what you do is buy a filter called sun filter or simply UV filter and this is a just piece of glass. There’s the actual lens itself and I’m going to protect it by putting this filter on. Be sure to buy the filter that fits the camera, it’s the diameter this one is 37 mm and when screw it on, take extra care, not to cross the threads because if you strip the threads on the inside here and this one is plastic so it’s even easier to strip. Then you’re going to have a problem mounting the filters."
