"Welcome! This section is called providing great customer service. I'm Pam Unruh on behalf of expertvillage.com. The next step in providing the basic elements of customer service is one that you probably already know is important but it does bear repeating because it is very important to continue to focus on this. Always say thank you to your customer. Now we talked before about the cost of customer service is very minimal but a lot of these little steps are very minimal as well. It only takes a couple of seconds but without it you can make a customer feel as though you just really don't appreciate their business and with so much competition out there these days, people are very willing to go to someone else who is going to take that extra second to show them that common courtesy. My own experience when you go into a business, I went into a convenience store the other day and the clerk was on the phone with someone that she was arguing with. I don't know who it was, didn't look up at me and when she gave me my change back, she put it on the counter turned right back to her conversation. I did not appreciate feeling as though I was interrupting her. I was doing that company and that business a favor just by saying a simple thank you or just even acknowledging my presence may have made a difference. But needless to say, I just don't shop there any more."
