Changing the Media on Film & Laser Fax Machines

"Hi! I’m Mark Westling with All Brands Copiers Laser Printers and Fax, talking to you today on behalf of expertvillage.com. We’re going to talk a little about changing the media on fax machines. Let me preface this segment by saying that you should always refer to your manufacturers recommendations on how to change the media, I don’t have any inkjet printers with me but changing the media on an inkjet printer is done in a very specific way and the only was to figure out how to do that is to read the instructions in your owners manual, if you’re not sure call the manufacture and ask them. I’m going to go over basically how to change the media on a film type fax machine and then on a laser fax, these are the two common types other than inkjets that we’re going to be discussing. First of all this is a film machine, it uses a roll of film media which sits inside like this you can see that there’s a lower spool and an upper spool these are very simple to change but remember that the plastic ends have to be moved from one spool to the next, they come out very easily they just kind of lift up like this, it looks almost like one of the old time scrolls from Egyptian times but this is not papyrus, it’s ink, go ahead and put the end box back on the roll and then put the roll back in it’s place these gears are different so you have to make sure that when you take the gears off of one spool it goes on the other spool. Also make sure that the film is down and moving in the proper direction, always look at it when you take it out and make sure that it matches when you put it back in, then go ahead and close your machine up and you’re ready to go. This is a laser machine these are even more simple to change all we do is simply open the machine, when we turn it sideways like this you can see the cartridge just sits right here just grasp the handle firmly with your hand, pull it out towards you it’s on rails moves very smoothly, take it out remove this one and get your new one, go ahead and put it in, line up there’s some little wells that have to be lined up, go ahead and slide it till it snaps once it snaps then you’re done, go ahead and shut your machine, make sure that all the doors are closed and the machine should go ahead and warm up and go to ready and that’s all you have to do to change the media on your fax machine."
