"Hi, I’m Sharon Wilharm on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. And for our final topic, I’d like to discuss when not to home school. Now home schooling is a wonderful education option, but there are a few times when it may not be the best choice for your family. The first is if you have a full time job, now there are home schoolers that work full time, but it’s very difficult because your children need you to be there teaching them, working with them, helping them to understand the different topics and it’s going to be really hard if you’re trying to work at the same time. Now you may be able to work it out with your spouse, so that yall take turns and you take turns teaching, so it is possible, but it may be best to wait for another time to home school if you’re trying to work full time and if you have so many commitments that you don’t have the time to commit to home schooling. Another time would be if you lack the confidence and you lack the ability to stick with something. If you find yourself starting new projects and giving up after a short period of time, you’re going to have a hard time with home schooling because home schooling requires commitment. Once you decide to do it, you have to stick with it and you have to do it everyday, if not, it’s going to make it really hard for the children and they’re going to get behind and they’re going to get discouraged and it’s going to be a very difficult experience and so you may have to make the decision that either you’re going to work at this and you’re going to commit to it or you may decide that the best option would be to send them to school and that way you know they will get an education. Whatever you decide, there’s no right or wrong answer, it’s just what works best for you and your family."
