"I'm Don Varney of Varney Speaks and on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about the interview process. The other thing is they can ask you questions like, why did you leave your last position. Well, you always want to take the high road on this. If you had a lousy boss and just didn't get along with him and it was ugly, don't say that in the interview. Just simply say I was in a position with my last company where I realized my creativity wasn't being used. I'm looking to be creative. I'm a creative person and that's why today sir, I've come over here to this graphic arts company where creativity is important and I'm wanting to be able to run with my strength of being creative instead of that, so that's why I walked away from my last job. They might ask you like how do you handle mistakes? Again, they're not wanting to know about mistakes in your life. They're just wanting to know how do you handle mistakes. Are you the type of person that if something goes wrong, you blow up? You can't control the situation, you're very upset because somebody did not do with what they were supposed to do. Are you a person that says okay, let's figure this out? Are you solution oriented? Do you sit down and try to figure out what happen? What actually caused that situation? What you want to do is sit down and actually try to figure out what caused the mistake, what caused the situation? Are you a problem solver? Are you the person that looks for the way to make it better, or do you just kind of live in this world of negativity and mistake? I would think that most of us are looking for the person that's the problem solver. These are just a few of the questions that you might be asked during the interview process."
