"I'm Don Varney of Varney Speaks and on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about the interview process. Let's talk abut what happens a little bit after the interview. A lot of these people in the next 2 or 3 days from the time you left will call you. They'll want to talk to you or they'll want to ask a few extra questions, or they'll want to actually be involved with you a little bit to try to set up the next appointment because you're a high level candidate for this company. You need to educate your family and explain to them that you are out trying to get a job and that people are going to call the house. I always laugh about the horror story of the 15 year old that's at the house and dad's trying to get a job or mom's trying to get a job. The phone rings, kid just got home from school, really doesn't care about the phone, answers the phone and says what's up and is kind of like uh huh. The interviewer knows at that point, there is no way whatever they say is getting to the person they're trying to. Unfortunately the child is was more interested in turning the TV on, playing a video game, or going to hang out with their friends and certainly wasn't interested in that conversation at all. Here's what you should do. By the main phones in your house, set down a script of just some basic questions. What is the name of the company? What is your name? What is your phone number sir/ma'am that he can call you back? What are you calling regarding? Is it a job offer or whatever. Lay it out for them. Just some very generally questions that when they call, all that your family members have to do is answer and answer a few questions, ask a few questions and you're off and running."
