"Hi, I'm Aaron Philips, for Expert Village, and this is Choosing the Right Bike for You. Another thing you can do, is, some people use what are called rack trunks. So if you're doing a short tour, just one day, you want some keys, wallet, a nice jacket, good big, fat, lunch, you know, maybe a camera, some other stuff, you're going through a really beautiful area. You can use these rack tracks, which essentially just Velcro right onto the rack. These are preferred for day tours, just because you don't get a lot of the drag associated with having bags sitting out on the side of the bike, and if they're pretty easy to access, and they don't kind-a throw of your balance very well; or very much, rather. Anyway, another thing with the touring bike that's kind-a nice to have, is you'll see here there's a rear view mirror mounted to this bike. There's a bunch of different kinds, you can put them on your helmet, you can put them on the handlebar like this, its really nice if you're doing a long tour. On a long tour, you're going to be in places where people would, depending on where you're going, where people aren't used to seeing a lot of bikes, so you kind-a want to see what's going on in that rear view, see if that motorist is seeing you. And if you have to, if you've got a really bad bottleneck, and you just think things aren't going well, this gives you that option, kind of the nuclear option, of bike touring, which is kind-a just coasting to the side of the road and stopping, and let those cars go by. You're in for some, for adventures if you decide to go out and take a tour. It's absolutely the best way to see the land, feel the wind, feel the sun, kind-a know what's going with the land, get really tuned in to the landscape, you meet a lot of people who ask you, "Good God what are you doing? Didn't you know that's what they make airplanes for, travelling?" So touring bikes are something that's just very, very fun, and if you can get out on a tour, get out on a tour."
