While in Peru, you can find internet cafes all over, so you're not going to have any type of problems reaching your love ones in United States or anywhere in the world. It's very easy and very inexpensive. I believe you pay for an hour 50 cents or less than hour. You can also make phone calls through the internet really, really inexpensive, 10 cents a minute or something like that or you can get a calling card everywhere. You can buy the calling cards in the pharmacies, banks, street vendors, anywhere, and you've gotta dial. Remember, instant dialing from United States to Peru, you dial 011. From Peru you, dial 001 then the area code and then the number. It's pretty easy to remember. But if its still you need to have close contact when you are as soon as you arrive, before clearing customs at the airport, you can rent a phone for $10 dollars for 30 days. All the incoming calls are free, but if you make a phone call it will cost you a dollar a minute. It's quite expensive but people can always reach you and at the end before leaving Peru you can just return the phone and you will only get charged $10 dollars. That's what I do. I tell al my friends and relatives, you can call me or I can call you. So they all know they can reach me, I don't pay more than $10 dollars and I feel safe just I case something will happen. Also you can take your own cell but remember check with your company because it's quite expensive. They're going to reach you there but you don't want to end paying the amount that they are willing to charge you or you can get FedEx. You can also get money wire, Western Union, and postal service; all, they do work, probably a little bit slower than in the United States but they do work and they are very reliable."
