"Rob Lowes from Carlson Wagonlit and Lowes Travel on behalf of expertvillage.com. Today we are going to talk about trip advisors. In this clip, I am going to speak about consumer protection. When you use a professional trip advisor, many jurisdictions in North America, Canada and the United States offer consumer protection funds in case of bankruptcy of your travel agent or your travel supplier; specifically the airlines, cruise lines and resorts. I am sure many of you can name a few airlines that don't even exist any more that you may have had an experience, even losing some money on that. So if you use a professional travel consultant, your money can be protected by one of these funds. Also it is wise to pay by credit card as well because many credit card companies will offer a fall back as well in case of a bankruptcy where the service may not being delivered and you can go back on your card companies and that has happened many times in the past, so keep that in mind. Even if you may wish to pay cash, credit cards for some reasons seem to offer an extra level of protection. It is not a bad idea to use your credit card. It is not always a good idea to use your credit card but I highly recommend you use it especially for an airline transaction. They tend to be the ones that are the highest risk of bankruptcies, so keep that in mind and always use a professional travel consultant. We can also offer your insurance to cover any foreseen circumstance that may not be covered under consumer protection."
